What We’re Doing

  • A woman and two children interact through a glass window with an artist painting inside. The woman and children are outside, and the artist is inside, smiling and drawing on the glass. The artist is a woman with dark hair, and the children have light and blonde hair. The scene appears cheerful and lively, with sketches of faces on the window and a painted scene on the wall beside.

    Market Street Arts

Guided by the vision of Mid-Market as a world-class arts, culture, and entertainment district, our Market Street Arts initiative invests in attracting diverse artists, arts organizations, and creative entrepreneurs to Mid-Market to create a sustainable business and cultural ecosystem.

  • Six people at a ribbon-cutting event in front of a sign that reads "Holy Stitch!" with a large pink and black logo. The group appears to be celebrating, holding the ribbon and smiling.

    Business & Partner Support

We work to meet the specific needs of Mid-Market businesses, large and small. Our team solves problems, creates opportunities, and supports with marketing, advocacy, grants, PR, partnerships, and business attraction. We’ve also filled three Mid-Market vacancies with creative entrepreneurs.

  • Four diverse people, two women and two men, smiling at an outdoor gathering with trees and a building in the background.

    Engagement & Advocacy

MMBA&F plays a leadership role in convening public and private entities to shape policy, partnerships, and action improving street conditions, economic development, and community well-being for the neighborhood.

    Events & Programming

As part of our Market Street Arts initiative, we produce regular activations and large-scale events in Mid-Market. These accessible events pay artists a living wage and feature live music, dance, drag, fashion, fine art, comedy, magic, visual arts and more. The programs take place inside venues, on the sidewalks, in empty storefronts, and even on trolley cars.

  • Stacks of promotional flyers on a black table, advertising free live music on Market Street, with colorful text and graphics.

    Marketing & Public Relations

We execute marketing & PR strategies to shape the narrative of Mid-Market while directly supporting Market Street Arts and local businesses. We lead destination marketing efforts to connect customers with area offerings and programs while enhancing the neighborhood’s identity.

    Community-Based Safety Program

MMBA&F launched one of the largest public-private community safety partnerships in the country with Urban Alchemy, SFOEWD, and DEM. Now City-led, the Community-Based Safety Program maintains ambassadors throughout public spaces, parks and plazas in Mid-Market and Tenderloin.
